Your smile was soul given, it made strangers your friend
You loved everyone & you loved the music, without end
You believed in the strength of numbers, a leader among men
Every time we hear your songs, we see you again
Cuz Music man, you live forever
Music man, you are forever
Oh, Someone tried, yes they did, to snuff out your light
But it’s been set free to burn stronger and beam bright
In a thousand streams from the earth to the sky
You are shining through so many eyes
Music man, you live forever
Music man , you are forever
You used to talk about others like that
Hank, Waylon, Willie, Johnny
how they made an impact
Changing the world, bringing the soul of music back
Here you came to be just like them, and that’s a fact
Music man, you live forever
Music man, you are forever
In the light, in the rain
In 2013, Brigitte moved back to Nashville TN and began Hosting the Americana Outlaw Night at Nashville Underground, downtown on Broadway. It was a groundbreaking roots music series, right in the heart of all of the commercialism that consumes the popular downtown street of “music.” Robert K Wolf enlisted Brigitte to Host and book the event and what followed was a life changing series of months. Artists like Wayne Mills, Dallas Moore, Ray Scott, etc all came to perform. Cley Reynolds handled sound and Brigitte met Wayne Mills at the recommendation of Dallas Moore. Wayne jumped in, full throttle, to support the Series. Amazing shows of national artists of high caliber took place on a weekly basis on Thursday nights. Changing the world – from the belly of the “beast”…corporate Nashville. Sample event posters:
The limitations of the ownership of the establishment and other conditions made it no longer an ideal place for the Series. Beginning January 2014 a new Series was in the works. Brigitte London, Wayne Mills and Jill Kinsey were going to start a new music series in Nashville. Kindred spirits with the same purpose – TO CHANGE THINGS. The new Series was to have 15 artists (that was the plan) to perform and do hosting duties when others were touring. This was a mission to bring roots music back to Nashville. To keep Live Music going. A revolution.
But on November 23, 6 days after the last National Underground show, Wayne Mills was shot in the back of the head by a club owner in Nashville. (He STILL awaits trial). Wayne was the most amazing person ON THE PLANET. It was a shock and a devastation loss for so many. But especially for his wife and young son. Please go to WayneMillsBand.com and buy his records. The money spent there goes to care for his family left behind.
The months Brigitte spent with Wayne Mills on the Series and in other music business, changed her forever. Wayne was a unique individual. He thought of EVERYONE before himself. He CELEBRATED other artists. He was determined to buck the system. A kindred brother to all of the things that Brigitte stood for. His death was devastating for everyone. Wayne had a reach that went so far, it is impossible to know all of the people he touched. He helped the careers of Blake Shelton, Jamey Johnson, more. He helped every artist that crossed his path. The Last Honky Tonk Music Series was born to help artists and honor his legacy. God Bless Wayne Mills Forever.
